2. General
The Sirius iX10 is the smallest card reader of the iX family. The reader is compatible with a variety of cards and tags. This reader is perfect for built-in situations, like electrical junction boxes and wall boxes.
You can use the iX10 reader in places where other iX family readers are just too big. The reader is supplied with a basic casing that prevents the electronics from being damaged during installation.

3. Installation preparations
3.1 Tools and equipment
When installing the Sirius iX10, the following tools or materials may be needed.
T-568B, or another cable which meets the requirements as specified in Maximum cable lengths.
This document assumes standard T-568-B color coding of the cables.Wire side cutter
Electric wire ferrule
Crimping tool
Philips screwdriver
3.2 Accessory
3.2.1 Adapter board
An adapter board can be placed between the controller and the Sirius card reader to convert signals or for electrical protection. Reasons for the use of an adapter board include:
If the reader is not installed in the same building as the controller and therefore, the cable exits the building. This scenario may occur if, for example, the reader is installed near a parking barrier.
If The connection cable is not (or is not guaranteed to be) a (≥Cat5e) UTP cable (e.g., if an
existing connection cable is being reused)Overvoltage protection is required
The adapter board along with the network controller are connected using standard UTP ≥Cat5e
cable (plug-in connection).

4. Installation
This chapter describes the conditions to install the iX10 reader.
4.1 Measurements
4.2 Environment
To ensure proper functioning of the equipment, the environment of the Sirius iX10 must be compliant with certain conditions.
The Sirius iX10 card reader is suitable for indoor use in an enclosure.
For proper operation, the reader must be installed behind a panel of 9mm (plexi) glass.
The IP rating of the Sirius iX10 card reader depends on the enclosure in which the iX reader is placed.
The Sirius iX10 operates between a temperature of -40°C and + 85°C.
Determine the location where the Sirius iX10 card reader should be installed. Please note that there is a maximum cable length between the card reader and the door controller (Maximum cable lengths).
The connection and cable length of the Sirius iX10 depends on the chosen data output. The Sirius iX10 should not be installed directly on metal.
The reader is intended as a built-in module. Put the reader as close to the front plate as possible, everything placed in front of the reader decreases the RFID (radio frequency identification) range.
The Sirius iX10 should not be mounted higher than two meters.
Keep a minimum distance of 20 cm between Sirius iX10 card readers *1.
Info |
---|
*1 When Cosmos Access is used, keep a minimum distance of 40 cm between Sirius iX10 readers. |
Note |
---|
Metal near the Bluetooth and/or rfID antenna, such as cables or metal screws, can negatively affect the user experience for Cosmos access or card reading. |
4.3 Mounting steps
Open the housing (enclosure) where iX10 is going to be installed. Do not open the protective case of iX10.
Remove the 9-pin connector from the iX10.
Connect the cable correctly to the 9-pin connector. See chapter 8.1 Main connector.
Put back the connector.
Mount the card reader on a flat surface.
Close the housing (enclosure) in which the module is installed.
4.4 Advanced options
The iX10 is intended to be used in electrical wall sockets, but it is possible to make the iX10 fit in other housings. Therefore, it is equipped with breakaway tabs, numbered 1 … 4.

5.1.3 IPR-iX10-PRM Programmable
The Sirius iX10 IPR-iX10-PRM does not have any configuration by default. Programming the Sirius iX10 depends on the interface.
Interface / protocol | How to program |
RS485 | Reader configuration file |
Clock/data | TKH Security configuration card |
Configuration card
If the reader is not used with RS485, a configuration card can be used to program the reader to the customer needs. Settings like the default LED color and brightness, Wiegand or Clock/data output and key material can be changed. To program the programmable reader, a customer specific (config) card is needed.
This configuration card can be ordered at TKH Security via cardconfig@tkhsecurity.com.
Programming procedure
Connect the card reader.
Switch on the power. The card readers LED turns into BLUE.
Present the configuration card and wait until the card reader restarts.
The card readers LED turns into RED. The configuration is complete.
6. Sticker
The Sirius iX10 is provided with the stickers as shown in the table below:
...
The product is classed as Electrical or Electronic equipment and should not be disposed with other household or commercial waste at the end of its useful life. The Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive has been put in place to recycle products using best available recovery and recycling techniques to minimize the impact on the environment, treat and hazardous substances and avoid the increasing landfill. Contact local authorities for information on the correct disposal of Electrical or Electronic equipment.
7. Mobile Access
Mobile access is an extra feature on the Sirius iX10. Using the IPROTECT Access app (formerly Cosmos Access), the user can use a mobile device as an identifier (besides rfID access cards). To enable this feature, every Sirius iX10 must be assigned to the Mobile Access project it belongs to. This can be done using the assign process.
...
For more detailed information please check the IPROTECT Config and IRPOTECT Access documentation.

* The Sirius iX10 accepts a power between 5 .. 28 VDC. A higher input voltage results in lower power consumption and ensuring cost-efficient wiring with a smaller conductor diameter. When using an external power supply, it must comply with SELV guidelines. It is recommended to power the reader with a power supply that can supply a minimum of 3W to a maximum of 15W. If the reader is powered by a power supply with a power higher than 15W, a fuse of 400mA must be placed by the installer. |
