Introduction

The ‘OSD Style’ (On Screen Display) is the in-panel information about the camera which by default shows the camera name, the type of panel (live or playback) and the recording status. Optionally more information can be added to the OSD as well as the position, color and size of the text. It is also possible to change the ‘OSD Style’ using a macro.

This article explains all the OSD options.

Configuration

The ‘OSD Style’ can be configured in the OSD Style configuration dialog. This dialog is opened by selecting a live or playback video panel and pressing Edit OSD Styles button in the Panel Settings area of the Layout Manager. The following dialog appears

On the left side of the dialog the preview panel and the list of OSD styles are displayed as well as the option to add and remove OSD Styles (plus and minus buttons). Due to the fact an OSD style can be configured per panel the button Apply to Layout can be pressed to apply the selected OSD style to all panels in the layout.

On the right side of the dialog the settings for the selected OSD style can be modified. To enable or disable the OSD the Enable checkbox either needs to be checked or unchecked. The Name field is providing a (unique) name for OSD Style.

Time of the live video. By default this is the local time of the server, but if RTP timestamps in enabled (Read More) it is the time of the camera.

  • Playback video date time  (default)
Time of the recorded video. This is only visible in a playback panel.

  • Framerate
Framerate of the video stream and recording (these values can differ depening on dual streaming and storage settings).

  • Resolution
    Resolution of the video stream.

  • Motion value  (default)
Percentage of the amount of current movement in the video stream.

  • Latency value
Average delay time in milliseconds of the last 10 seconds between camera and Sense Client. If RTP timestamps is not enabled the time difference is between Sense Server and Sense Client.

  • Additional value  (default)

  • Border
    Border around video panel.

  • Latency warning
If the time difference between camera and Sense Client (or SenseServer depending on RTP Timestamps value) is more than 500ms a red cross is drawn over the video panel.

Color and size:

  • Background color (default: black)
    OSD background color

  • Background opacity (default: 50%)
OSD background opacity or transparancy. Lower value is more transparent.

Framerate & Resolution

If the Framerate  and Resolution is enabled the actual framerate and resolution of the videostream are displayed in the videopanel:

The first value is the camera name.

The second value is the resolution of the videostream which is 1920×1080 pixels.

The third value is the framerate of the videostream which is displayed. Depending on dual streaming settings this value can differ depending on the size of the panel (Read more).

The fourth value is the framerate of the videostream which is recorded.

The fith value is the amount of motion (not related to framerate or resolution).

Live video & playback time

If Live video date time is enabled the actual time of the videostream is displayed in the live videopanel:

The first value is the camera name.

The second value is the date and time of the live video stream. If RTP Timestamps is enabled it is the time of the camera, if not it is the current time of the server. The format is year-month-day hour:minutes:seconds.

The third value is the amount of motion (not related to framerate or resolution).

If Playback video date time is enabled the actual time of the videostream is displayed in the playback videopanel:

The first value is the camera name.

The second value is the date and time of the recorded video stream. The format is year-month-day hour:minutes:seconds.

Latency value & warning

If Latency value the average delay time in milliseconds of the last 10 seconds between camera and Sense Client is displayed. If RTP timestamps is not enabled the time difference is between Sense Server and Sense Client.

The first value is the camera name.

The second is the average latency in milliseconds between either camera and SenseClient or server and SenseClient.

The third value is the amount of motion (not related to framerate or resolution).

If Latency warning is enabled and the timedifference is more than 500ms, a red cross is drawn over the videopanel, see below:

In this case there is an hour time difference between camera and Sense Client which could indicate a configuration error in the time synchronization settings of the camera.
