VDG Sense | Web & Mobile Client | iOS

The new iOS Client.

Together with the new Web Client, we’ve created the new iOS Mobile client to be a similar simplified client for VDG Sense. Like the Web client, you are able to view live images, control PTZ domes and playback recorded data right from your mobile device. The mobile client is available from the App Store.

Requirements

  • iOS 8.0 or newer

  • Compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

  • Playback functionality requires Sense Server 2.4.9 or newer

  • Wi-Fi or 4G connection recommended

Getting started

When the VDG Sense iOS client has been installed on your phone, start the application to open the login screen. In this screen, first click the server dropdown box to add a new server or select from previously added servers.

Too add a new server to your mobile client, press “Add new server” in the Server selection list.

First time usage

When logging in for the first time on an iPad device, the default 2×2 layout will be opened. The client will automatically fill the layout with the first 4 devices in your system. On an iPhone device, only the device list will be shown.

Navigation

The navigation bar shows 3 icons which have the following functions:

Eye – Open/Close the live menu.

Gear – Open the configuration screen

Exit – Log out of the Mobile Client and return to the login screen

Live menu – Cameras

The camera menu contains the first all the cameras in your VDG Sense installation, but only the first 50 are visible. By using the search menu (explained below) you can find any other camera in the installation. You can place the cameras into your layout by dragging and dropping the cameras from the list into your layout panel.

You can use the search bar to search to specific devices in your site. Enter the ‘device name’, ‘IP-address’ or ‘location’  you are searching for. The search bar on iPhone can be found by swiping the camera list downwards. You can also quickly navigate to a location by tapping the location icon to get a list of all locations configured in Sense.

Live menu – Server Macros

The server macro menu contains all the server macros in your VDG Sense installation. You can trigger any server macro from this menu regardless of the configured signal. Simply tap the server macro you wish to trigger and the actions of that macro will execute immediately.

Fullscreen mode

To open a device in fullscreen, double click the panel in which the device is located.  To return to the layout, double click the image or press the close button in the top right.

PTZ controls

To control a PTZ capable device, open the device in fullscreen. PTZ controls will automatically appear in the bottom right corner of the image. Use the controls to pan and tilt the camera and the + & – to zoom in or zoom out.
Alternatively, you can use the arrow-keys on your keyboard to control the device. PTZ sensitivity can be configured in the Web Client settings menu.

If a PTZ dome has configured presets, they can be accessed by opening the Preset menu. Click on a preset image to move the dome towards the preset.

Video playback

It’s possible to watch up to 24 hours of footage in the Mobile Client. To view recorded footage, open the device in fullscreen mode and drag the timeline on the bottom of the view to the appropriate time. A small preview window of the time will appear. To finetune your playback datetime, drag your mouse above the preview-image to receive smaller intervals. When the timeline is released, the footage will start playing from that point in time.

To return to live footage, either close fullscreen mode, or click “Go to live” in the bottom right.

Note: Playback is only available on Sense version 2.4.9 or higher!
