What is the Web client?
The VDG Sense Web client is a simplified web-based client for VDG Sense. You are able to view live images, control PTZ domes and playback recorded data from your internet browser. The Web client is automatically installed with any VDG Sense server installation.
Getting started
The Sense Web Client is automatically installed with your Sense server installation. To access the web client, open an internet browser and enter the IP or hostname of your VDG Sense server. For example: 172.255.255.255
To access your VDG Web Client from outside of your network, make sure that port 80 has been opened on your server. If you are running the webclient on another port, be sure to add the port number after the IP-address. For example: 172.255.255.255:81
After entering your VDG Sense server address, the login screen will appear.
Enter your VDG Sense credentials to login.
First time usage
When opening the web client for the first time, the default 2×2 layout will be opened. The webclient will automatically fill the layout with the first 4 devices in your system.
Navigation
The navigation bar shows 3 icons which have the following functions:
Eye – Open/Close the live menu.
Gear – Open the configuration screen
Exit – Log out of the Web Client
Live menu – Cameras
The camera menu contains the first all the cameras in your VDG Sense installation, but only the first 50 are visible. By using the search menu (explained below) you can find any other camera in the installation. You can place the cameras into your layout by dragging and dropping the cameras from the list into your layout panel.
You can use the search bar to search to specific devices in your site. Enter the ‘device name’, ‘IP-address’ or ‘location’ you are searching for. The search bar on iPhone can be found by swiping the camera list downwards. You can also quickly navigate to a location by tapping the location icon to get a list of all locations configured in Sense.
Live menu – Layouts
The layout menu contains several premade layouts you can utilize. Currently, the Web client contains:
2 x 2
1 x 2
1 x 1
Layout configuration are saved between sessions.
Live menu – Events (2.4.12+)
From version 2.4.12 and above, a fixed Event layout is available. See the Web Client – Event page for more information.
Important: The events icon is only visible if the server on which you login has an API license.
Live menu – Server macros (2.4.12+)
The macro menu contains available server macros created in the Sense client. By clicking on one of the macros in the menu, the macro action will be triggered, regardless what the macro signal settings are.
Important: The macro icon is only visible if the server on which you login has an API license.
Fullscreen mode
To open a device in fullscreen, double click the panel in which the device is located. To return to the layout, double click the image or press the close button in the top right.
PTZ controls
To control a PTZ capable device, open the device in fullscreen. PTZ controls will automatically appear in the bottom right corner of the image. Use the controls to pan and tilt the camera and the + & – to zoom in or zoom out.
Alternatively, you can use the arrow-keys on your keyboard to control the device. PTZ sensitivity can be configured in the Web Client settings menu.
If a PTZ dome has configured presets, they can be accessed by opening the Preset menu. Click on a preset image to move the dome towards the preset.
Video playback
It’s possible to watch up to 24 hours of footage in the Web Client. To view recorded footage, open the device in fullscreen mode and drag the timeline on the bottom of the view to the appropriate time. A small preview window of the time will appear. To finetune your playback datetime, drag your mouse above the preview-image to receive smaller intervals. When the timeline is released, the footage will start playing from that point in time.
To return to live footage, either close fullscreen mode, or click “Go to live” in the bottom right.
