VDG Sense | Operator | Data export & securing

All video exported from VDG Sense will be in a specialized format which cannot be opened using a media player. To view exported video, it is required to open the data in the Sense Player. The Sense Player is a simplified version of the Sense Client for viewing exported data only. No license is required to run the Sense Player.

The Sense Player can be installed independently, or included when you export video data in the Sense Client.  The Sense Player can only run in a Windows environment.

Installing Sense Player

The Sense Player can be independently installed by downloading and running the Sense Player installer. The installer of the Sense Player can be found on the Support Download page.

Include Sense player in export

It’s also possible to include the Sense Player with an export. This can be useful for sending exported data to a third party. Note that including the Sense Player will increase the size of your export with ~300MB.  If an export location already contains a Sense Player, it will override the existing files. This will also essentially update the Sense Player to the latest version if applicable.

Using Sense Player

When opening the Sense Player for the first time, it will show an empty screen. At the top of the screen, you will see the following items:

Eye:                                   Open Treeview menu to switch layouts or cameras

Lock:                                 Close Sense Player

Playback folder:              Location of playback data

To open your playback data, click the browse button next to the Playback folder input field and navigate to your SenseExport location. Inside the SenseExport location, open the folder “Data” and find the folder named Export_[date]_[time]. Where [date] and [time] correspond of the date/time of exported video.

Example location:

C:Users<username>DesktopSenseExportDataExport_20160830_090800

When the correct folder has been selected, the Sense Player will automatically create a playback layout based on the number of cameras exported. Further interaction with the Player is similar to the Sense Client. You can switch cameras using the camera treeview menu, and open devices in fullscreen mode.
