VDG Sense | VDG Integrations | Sensit

The Sensit plugin will automatically perform the following steps:

  • Import parking lot bays

  • Retrieve Bay events

Configuration

Before importing the Sensit configuration into Sense, please make sure the following criteria are met:

  • The Sensit server is active and connected to the same network as VDG Sense

  • The Sense Pluginmanager is running

Enabling Sensit plugin

When everything has been configured in the Sensit server, you are ready to import the configuration to VDG Sense. Log in into VDG Sense and open the configuration menu. Select the Plugin tab and enable the Park Assist plugin by enabling the checkbox next to the plugin name.

Connect to Sensit Server

In the plugin settings, enter the Host-address of the Sensit Server along with the correct credentials. If no host is entered, ‘localhost’ will be used automatically.
After the server address and the username/password have been entered, click ‘Save’.

When the server is connected, click the button “import” to retrieve the parking-lot data from the Sensit server. Please note the message if the import has succeeded. If not, check the server details and credentials or if the Sensit server is active.

When the import has succeeded, Sense will receive Sensit ‘Bay’-events. Bay Entry, Bay Exit and Bay Overstay. Each event is coupled with a Bay-ID and Parkinglot-name. “Bay Overstay” will additionally show an Overstay-time. This is the maximum amount of time a vehicle can be placed in a bay.

Device mapping

In the ‘Device mapping’ menu, parking bays can be linked to a camera device. One device can be linked to multiple bays. If an event occurs for a bay coupled to a device, that device will be visible with the event. For example in a layout with both an EventList panel and an EventPlayback panel.

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect multiple Sensit servers?

No, a Sense plugin can always be connected to a single Sensit-server. A Sensit-server contains multiple parkinglots.

What is a ping?

Sensit sends certain events to the plugin through a subscription model. This means that it’s not required to send a message to request the last events. The events will be send automatically whenever they are triggered. To check if connection is still active, Sense will send a ping message every 30 seconds.

The ping message failed, what should I do?

There are multiple reasons why a ping message could fail. The following are the most common:

  • An incorrect host address has been entered

    • Note that the host does not require “http://”

    • An incorrect username and/or password is entered

  • Sensit server is not active

  • The host has changed, but no new import has been done

    • Changing the host address in the plugin is considered a change and will clear all existing settings.

  • The callback address has been changed

    • The callback address on which the events are received is not used until a new import has been started.

    • If the host address has not changed, no settings will be lost

Why do I need to sync the time of Sensit and Sense?

Sensit keeps track of which events are sent to the Sense server. Whenever events are lost, or not properly sent, for example in the case of a connection lost, Sensit will send them again at a later point. However, if an event is more than 60 seconds old, it won’t be shown in the Sense Client anymore to keep events as real time as possible. Filtered events will not trigger macro signals. By syncing the time servers, you’re preventing events from being incorrectly filtered.
