iProtect Access / Security | How To Articles |

XHR

This only works with older versions of Chrome/Edge. In current versions this option is not available.

Use Firefox or update iProtect to 10.1

In case of strange abnormal behavior (unknown error, not being able to log out etc.) this could be due to a setting in the browser. This is due to a function/setting in Chrome/Edge that was normally Enabled but with the last update is set to Default (but is then disabled). This needs to be changed in every browser you use iProtect in.

Here is the adjustment that needs to be made in the Chrome/Edge browser.

  1. Open Chrome browser

  2. Go to chrome://flags/#allow-sync-xhr-in-page-dismissal

  3. Change the drop-down selection from "Default" or "Disabled" to "Enabled".

Relauch the browser after this (it will give a message about this)

No images in iProtect

We have also discovered that it can happen that no iProtect video is displayed in a recent Chrome version. At the moment we don't know exactly from which version of Chrome/Edge this is happening but fortunately there is a fairly simple solution in Chrome/Edge.

The problem is that Chrome/Edge does not allow images to be retrieved over http while the website is open in https. The setting below needs to be changed to allow this:

Explanation is based on chrome/edge in the English language

1: Open chrome/edge and browse to the iProtect website

2: Click on the exclamation mark or the lock in front of the URL

3: click on "site settings"

4: in the list look for "insecure content" and change it to "allow"

Images should be immediately visible

No sound on Alarm Handler after it opens.

The error in the console is:

Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: play() failed because the user didn't interact with the document first.

Solution is to change the way Chrome/Edge works with autoplay. Search for “Media autoplay” in the setting:

And change it to “Allow”

Automatic logging out of iProtect

browser version 110 and higher.

Error when iProtect is not used for a while and system settings has no logout time:

This is due to the sleeping tab function, you can turn this of for all sites, or whitelist iProtect.

To turn off sleeping tabs, please follow these steps:

  1. Open the browser.

  2. Click on the Settings button (Alt + F) and select Settings from the menu.

  3. On the left, click on System.

  4. On the right side, turn off the option “Save resources with Sleeping tabs”.

  5. Or add the site to “Never put these sites to sleep”.
