CMOS vs CCD

Most modern (full) HD cameras are equipped with CMOS sensors. Over the past years the CCTV industry has mainly focused on the further development of the CMOS sensor over the CCD sensor. This is due to the significant improvements of the CMOS sensors over the past 10 years and also economic aspects.

One of the main technical reasons for this choice is that the speed of the CMOS sensor in combination with multi-pixel cameras is much higher than that of a CCD sensor.

Where in the past the CCD was the preferred sensor choice in low-light situations, today this discussion is less relevant. The most important question is: does the camera provide the image quality that is needed for the specific situation.

Siqura is happy to demonstrate our proposed camera station for the evaluation of the image quality.
