3. How does it work

A person can only access an access area if his personal access level is equal(=) to or higher (>) than the access level set for the area. Examples of environments and applications are:

  1. Company emergency services, if an incident happens, all EROs can have instant access to certain areas.

  2. International Ship & Port Facility Security (ISPS).

  3. Access to areas restrictions based on conditions other than default rights on the card.

  4. Govermental buildings.

With Access levels Level, functionalities can be adjusted when the situation is appropriate.

For example:

  • Whether or not to use a pin code.

  • Changing normal access to remote access through the intervention of a control room (video verification).

  • Being able to block certain groups of people, for example, visitors or even employees.

4. Implementation

This chapter explains how the area access level setup can be made in iProtect.

4.1 Access level

The Access Level determines who has access to which status of the area, if the person has an equivalent or higher level compared to the area, access is granted.

The person's access card must have valid access rights to the reader.

4.1.1 Setup access level

In iProtect browse to menu: Access | Settings | Access level.

  • Right mouse click in the treeview dialogue and click on add Access level.

4.1.2 Enter the following data:

  • Name: logical unique name for the access level.

  • Level: Set access level between 0 and 255

4.2 Person access level

The access level of the person determines to what level the person has access to the area, if the set access level is equal to or higher than the access level of the area, access is granted.

If the access level of the person is blank, the area access level will not be checked and the person will always have access.

4.2.1 Setup person access level

In iProtect browse to menu: General | Person.

  • Select the person(s) where the access level should be set.

  • Select the desired access level for the person(s).

4.3 Area access level

The access level of the area determines the level of which persons are allowed to access the area, if the set access level is higher than the set access level of the person, access is denied.

4.3.1 Setup area access level

In iProtect browse to menu: Access | Settings | Area.

  • Select the Area where the access level should be set.

  • Select the desired access level for the Area.

4.4 Change the access level with a system action.
