The system backup section is used to backup all server settings or log files from the selected servers. A site info name is required and one or more servers need to be selected before the ‘Backup’ button becomes available.

Press ‘Backup’ to open the dialog to choose were to save the settings. If the backup succeeded the following dialog appears:

If there was an error retrieving the settings from one of the servers this dialog appears:

The cause of this error is that SenseClient cannot connect to the settings backup process within SensePluginManager on that particular service.  Commen causes for this error can be:

  • Firewall on either client or server is blocking SensePluginManager communication. It uses port 80 by default.

  • The time of the client and server is not synchronized

  • SensePluginManager on mentioned server is not running on that server

  • SensePluginManager port on mentioned server is blocked by another process. It uses port 80 by default.

The system restore section is used to restore a server using settings files generated by VDG Sense system backup.

System Restore

The system restore section is used to restore the selected server using the settings file which was generated by VDG Sense system backup. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Select the server which need to be restored in the selection box

  2. Press restore to open a dialog to choose the backup file (should be a . zip file)

  3. After opening the file the restore procedure starts

 

The restore procedure should restart the server if done succesfully. This can be monitored in the ‘Server’ tab. If this does not happen or the settings do not seem to be restored there could be a problem in communicating with that server. Commen causes for this error can be:

  • The time of the client and server is not synchronized

  • SensePluginManager on mentioned server is not running on that server

  • SensePluginManager port on mentioned server is blocked by another process. It uses port 80 by default.

  • No labels
