iProtect Access / Security | How To Articles |

Description:

iProtect™ fully supports Two-factor authentication (2FA). It uses the TOTP (Time-based One-time Password Algorithm) which is available in Google and Microsoft Authenticator apps. When you want to use this, iProtect™ must have the correct time, so an NTP must be used.

Essentials:

  • Version iProtect >9.10

  • Authenticator App

Configuration:

Log in with a user with Administrator rights, e.g. root.

Go to Menu option: Installation > Authorization > System user

  • Click on the “Search” button

  • Select the user you would like to give the 2FA

  • Set the 2FA active by enable the “Two-factor authentication” check box.

  • Click on the “Save” button

Now log out and log in with the user you just have given the 2FA option. After the login, a new window appears with a QR-code and 2FA-number.

Scan this QR-code with your Authenticator app.

In the next window, fill in the number shown in the app to complete the login.

If the 2FA doesn't work (app reinstall) you can reset in with the “Reset” button:

Go to Menu option: Installation > Authorization > System user

  • Click on the “Search” button

  • Select the user you want to reset the 2FA

  • Click on the “Reset” button

When the user logs in again, the QR code is shown again to be scanned by an authenticator app.
