VDG Sense | Setup | Layouts

Required Sense version: 2.7.2 or higher

Introduction

NOTE: Draft version. The name ‘Custom message’ will change in the release version to ‘On Screen Message’.

In VDG Sense version 2.7.2 and higher it’s possible to create (serverbased) on-screen messages, which are presented as an overlay over a video- or playbackpanel. Up to 4 rectangular zones can be defined with different styling in background color, fontcolor and fontsize. When a message is sent via a macro the API command ‘Custommessage’, the on-screen message is displayed in the eventbox

Configuration

The ‘OSM Style’ can be configured in the On-Screen Message configuration dialog. This dialog is opened by selecting a live or playback video panel and pressing Edit Custom Message button in the Panel Settings area of the Layout Manager. The following dialog appears:

On the left side of the dialog the preview panel and the list of styles are displayed as well as the option to add, remove or copy On-screen Message Styles (plus and minus buttons). Due to the fact an OSM style can be configured per panel, the button Apply to Layout can be pressed to apply the selected OSM style to all panels in the layout.

On the right side of the dialog the settings for the selected OSM style can be modified. To enable or disable the OSM the Enable checkbox either needs to be checked or unchecked. The Name field is providing a (unique) name for OSD Style.

Event box

Up to 4 Eventboxes can be created, each with different size, textstyle, background-color, opacity and position. When pressing the + button, the eventbox will appear in the preview panel and size and position can be changed in the panel.

The setting under the Event box menu are per Event box. Changing a setting will be visible in the corresponding eventbox in the preview panel.

Playback and Video Export

The On-screen Messages are stored as metadata with the recordings, and can optionally be displayed during playback or can be exported with the videodata.
