1 Introduction

To iProtect a Commend intercom system can be linked. You can program in iProtect the main and slave stations in such a way that a call is generated when someone is calling from a slave station. For extended installation possibilities and programming the manual from Commend has to be consulted. We suppose that you are familiar with the programming in Commend and in this way the installation in CCT can be programmed.

The link between the intercom centre and iProtect is based on a RS232 link or a link based on IP.
In iProtect the intercom centre is taken and set as a ‘Commend intercom’ node.
There are diverse possibilities for visualizing the intercom within iProtect. These possibilities are explained in this manual.

The information in this manual is based on iProtect Aurora:

  • Database version: iProtect Aurora 7.05

  • GUI version: iProtect Aurora 7.05

Linking with the Commend intercom centre is possible form iProtect™ Aurora:

  • Database version: iProtect Aurora 7.03

  • GUI version: iProtect Aurora 7.03

2 Programming of the intercom centre

2.1 License in Commend at serial link

Make sure at the GE300/GE800 that the license L3-ICX for the GE300 or L8-ICX for the GE800 is created and assigned on the correct GEP card.

  • Fill in the address at the license which is going to be created in the programming (Interfaces| Data Interfaces). Like in upper example the addresses 0-8 and in the license 0/08 must be equal to each other.

  • Fill in at Intercom Server| General Settings the communication channel (see example below). If Control Stations have been created, here also the communication channel has to be chosen.

2.2 License in Commend when link over IP

Make sure at the GE300/GE800 that the license L3-ICX for the GE300 or L8-ICX for the GE800 is created and assigned on the correct GEP card.

  • Fill in the address at the license which is going to be created in the programming
(Interfaces| Data Interfaces). Like in upper example the address in the license must be
    changed to 0/10.

  • Fill in at “Local port” the port where the connection is going to run out. Do not use port
17000 (this will be used by CCT)!!

  • Fill in at Intercom Server| General Settings the communication channel (see example
below). If Control Stations have been created, here also the communication channel
    has to be chosen.

3 Connecting serially the intercom centre

Connect a cable between the intercom centre and the “scc02” port of the iPU-8 or Polyx. This cable (1,5m) can be obtained as article no. 540-0602.
The cable has to be provided by a RJ45 plug with the color codings as shown in the following.

Connect on the other side of the cable a male 9 pins Sub D connector with these connections:

On pin 2: blue/white
On pin 3: blue
On pin 5: brown

The maximal distance between the centre and the iPU-8/Polyx is 15 meter.

If a link is being made based on IP, this cable does not have to be connected and the link can
be realized with a iPU-8 or Polyx.

Note: If a link is being made based on IP, this cable does not have to be connected and the link can be realized with a iPU-8 or Polyx.

Note: If a link is being made based on IP, this cable does not have to be connected and the link can be realized with a iPU-8 or Polyx.

4.6 System settings

With the system settings for Intercom you can set a series of different attributes. You can determine these attributes general or for each system user.

5 Switch outputs of the intercom centre

Under the node Commend intercom it is possible to make outputs which have been made in Commend. The Hexadecimal address must be entered here as created in Commend.

  • Click in iProtect on the menu item Installation | Hardware | Node.

  • Right-click on the intercom centre in the browse window and select ‘Add output’. The detail window opens.

  • Enter the following data:
    Mode: ‘follow source’
Local address (hex): ‘output address of the intercom centre’
IP-address: the IP-address of the server

  • Save the data.

When outputs in Commend are used to open doors, this output can be used in iProtect for unlatching a door via a Procedure/action. In this case there has to be created a procedure:

  • Click in iProtect on the menu item General | Settings | Procedure.

  • Right-click in the browse window and select ‘Add procedure’. The detail window opens.

  • Enter the following data:
    Event: Intercom Event
    Data (Execution): Output active
    Parameter: decimal nr.

When the call number of an output in Commend is e.g. 901, this event can be seen in “Last events”. The number which must be entered at Parameter must be transferred to decimal!. It is wise to use decimal numbers in Commend as call number in Commend. In this example must thus parameter 2305 be entered.

6 Possibilities for visualization of intercom

There are different ways to handle intercom:

  1. via the keymap

  2. via action/procedure with e.g. a pop-up intercom dialogue

  3. via a fixed intercom dialogue.

6.1 Intercom visualization via Keymap

The status of the stations can be displayed in Keymap. When on a intercom station is pressed
with the left mouse (see A in example below), the intercom dialogue opens.

6.2 Intercom visualization via access request

You can determine that an access request appears on the screen, when somebody calls at a slave station.

  • Make a procedure with the following settings:

  • Subsystem | Intercom

  • Event | Intercom request slave station
You can fill in a slave station at ‘table’ and ‘value’, if you want that only the call at this specific slave station appears. If you leave these two fields empty, all calls will be notified within the system.

  • Click on the action list of the created procedure with the right mouse button and add an
    action:

  • Execution | automatic

  • Action selection | access request
You can (with checking the corresponding option), that the canceling function in the access request cannot be used.

6.3 Display text settings:

In the intercom handler you see the master station, which has been assigned to your pc.
Depending on the system user settings either only the active slave stations or all slave stations will be displayed. When somebody calls at a slave station, this slave station appears in a screen (if this is not the case already). The user can accept then the call and establish a connection with the slave station with this. After the granting of access the connection with the slave station automatically will be interrupted. The time can be set for automatic interruption as well as the choice for a floor map or camera.

  • Select Installation| Intercom| Intercom group and create a intercom group.

  • Assign to this intercom group the main station via the intercom station list, which you have chosen for the work station.

  • Assign the slave stations via the intercom station connection list, which has to appear in
    the handling screen.

7 Change intercom display lines with iProtect

Normally spoken the name of the station or nr. displayed on a intercom station. It is possible to fill lines from iProtect.
The lines can obtain fixed text, event, a table value or a combination of this. By means of procedure/action the lines can be changed so that e.g. parking counts, personal welcoming text, door names etc. can be displayed.

7.1 Display text settings

Go to General | Settings | Display text and create a display text in the desired language.
Choose which line must be adapted and the type. At a combination of table value with fixed text or event value with text the text will be separated by means of a symbol @.
The symbol can be placed before or after the text. When the symbol is placed behind the text, the event or table value will come after the text. See underneath an example where the free places of company A will be shown:

7.2 Display text settings

Create a procedure when the text must be set in the correct intercom station. The table values which this procedure generates, are the variables of which the values are taken. Add an action “Intercom display” and choose the correct station with the desired text line.
