Introduction
What is a latch? With the latch mode function, you can achieve that a group of card readers (reader group) are forced into a mode such as Open, Locked etc controlled by an input or timezone.
Latch mode only works for readers when the reader mode is set to: Automatic.
All other reader modes have a higher priority than "Automatic," so Latch mode will not work if it is not in Automatic mode.
Â
The Latch function is prioritized, see table below where 1 has the highest priority:
Priority | Name |
---|---|
1 | Emergency |
2 | Locked |
3 | Confirm |
4 | Open |
5 | Normal |
It is allowed to use multiple latches for one reader group, the latch with the highest priority will be active.
Interlock and latch
If a latch is used in combination with a interlock function:
Emergency has a higher priority than Interlock, so if active all doors are open.
Open has a lower priority than the interlock function, so one of the doors will be opened
Emergency
The use of a latch with emergency should be applied with policy, this partly due to regulations and priorities within iProtect. In general, it is recommended to set this fail save and otherwise locally on the controller.
Â
If a latch is setup in iProtect you can select the following sources to control the latch
LATCH MODE | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
Active | Latch is always active |
Inactive | Latch will be inactive |
Input | You can select any input on the system to control the latch. |
Timezone | You can select any timezone in the system to control the latch. |
