*How to Restore an iProtect backup
1. Introduction
Restoring an iProtect backup is a crucial process that ensures the recovery of important system data, safeguarding it against data loss or corruption. This guide provides step-by-step instructions to assist you in downloading backup files, obtaining the necessary restore.taz file, and successfully restoring your database.
The process requires administrative access to the iProtect server and involves using both the cockpit panel and the maintenance page. Additionally, you’ll need to retrieve and work with key security components such as the key backup file and the encrypted backup.

Make sure that both the primary and backup servers are synchronized to the correct time to avoid any discrepancies during the restoration process.
2. Downloading the Backup File
2.1 Prerequisites
Access to the cockpit panel using a server administrator account.
The Atlas account credentials to access the maintenance page.
2.2 Steps
Log in to the Cockpit Panel:
Navigate to:
https://{IP address/hostname}/cockpitpanel
.Use the server administrator account credentials to log in.
Enable Maintenance Functions:
Once logged in, go to the iProtect Maintenance tab.
Click the Enable Functions button to enable maintenance features on the maintenance page.
Access the Maintenance Page:
Log in to the maintenance page using the Atlas account.
Download the Backup Files:
Navigate to the iProtect tab in the left-hand column.
Go to Back Up → Download.

3. Requesting the Restore.taz File
3.1 Understanding the Key Backup File
The key backup file is essential for requesting the restore.taz file. It acts as a security measure to ensure that only authorized users can access the restore file. This file is generated during the backup process and is stored in the iProtect system.
3.2 Steps to Obtain the Key Backup File
If you do not have the key backup file, follow these steps to retrieve it:
Log in to the Cockpit Panel:
Navigate to:

.Use the server administrator account credentials to log in.
Enable Maintenance Functions:
Go to the iProtect Maintenance tab.
Click the Enable Functions button.
Access the Maintenance Page:
Log in to the maintenance page using the Atlas account.
Download the Key Backup File:
Navigate to the iProtect tab in the left-hand column.
Go to Back Up → Download.
Download the Key Backup File from the list of available backups.
Ensure the key backup file corresponds to the backup file you wish to restore.
3.3 Requesting the Restore.taz File from Our Service & Support Desk
Once you have the key backup file, please follow these steps:
Contact Support:
Send an email to support.nl@tkhsecurity.com.
In your request, include the following information:
Installation name
Host ID of the installation from which the backup was retrieved
The Key Backup File as an attachment.
Verification and Assistance:
The support team will verify your eligibility and confirm the details.
Once verified, they will provide the corresponding restore.taz file and guide you through the restoration process if needed.
4. Steps to Restore the Backup
4.1 Uploading the Restore File
Log in to the Cockpit Panel:
Navigate to:

.Use the server administrator account credentials to log in.
Enable Maintenance Functions:
Go to the iProtect Maintenance tab.
Click the Enable Functions button.
Access the Maintenance Page:
Log in to the maintenance page using the Atlas account.
Upload the Restore File:
Navigate to the Install tab in the left-hand column.
Go to Upgrade → Configuration.
Upload the provided restore.taz file.
4.2 Uploading the Backup File
Once the restore.taz file is successfully uploaded:
Upload the corresponding backup file.
The system will:
Decrypt the backup file.
Restore the data to the database.
Monitor the Restore Process:
Go to the Logging section of the maintenance page to monitor the restoration progress.
