From iProtect version 10.01 onward, the licensing mechanisms have changed. The iProtect licensing has been brought in line with the Sense licensing scheme.

A license is now defined by a ProductID. By activating this license (ProductID) on a specific server, a valid license for that server is generated. The license can also be deactivated and transferred to another server via this ProductID. The activation and deactivation can be done both online and off-line.

You will always have to create a new license for an iProtect 10.01 system. It is not possible to transfer a license for iProtect 10.00, or earlier to, 10.01.

1 Instructions

1.2 Preparation

1. An iProtect license is created by TKHsecurity in the TKH Security License portal: https://service.tkhsecurity.com/nl/licenseadmin/licensesearch/view/

2. This license key can be downloaded or copied to your local PC/Laptop and used later on in the activation process. TKHsecurity will mail the license.

3. To be able to activate (and deactivate) license online, the gateway, DNS settings and NTP server have to be entered on the maintenance page of the iProtect server.

If these are not defined, or the iProtect server has no access to the outside Internet, the license will have to be activated (and deactivated) off-line.

1.3 Adding the license

1. Log in to the iProtect user interface

2. Go to the menu: Installation->Database->License

3. Here you see the button: Upload License Key. Press this button and select the license file that you downloaded during the Upload License Key. preparation.

4. You can also paste the license key directly in the field marked: New License Key and press the Add button.

5. Now the license is loaded in the system. It is not activated however.

6. By pressing the button: Select, you can see an overview of the components that are in the license.

1.4 Activation

1.4.1 Online

1. For online activation, first fill in a valid e-mail address in the field. A confirmation e-mail with the license details will be delivered to this e-mail address.

2. Then, simply press the button: Activate license License and the State of the license should change to Activated

1.4.2 Offline

1. For offline activation: select the Offline Activation checkbox in iProtect.

2. Now you will get a button Download Activation Request.

3. Press this button. A file with the request will be downloaded.

4. Go the license portal activation page: https://service.tkhsecurity.com/en/licensing/activate/file (the link is on the page) and upload the file you downloaded in the previous step and press Next.

5. If the license is found, you will get the option to activate this license.

6. If you activate the license, you can download a file with the activation code.

7. In iProtect you can upload this file with the button Upload License Activation file.

8. Now your license is activated and the State of the license should change to License activated

1.5 Deactivation

1.5.1 Online

1. For online deactivation, first fill in a valid e-mail address in the field. A confirmation e-mail with the license details will be delivered to this e-mail address.

2. Then, simply press the button: Dectivate license and the State of the license should change to License not activated

1.5.2 Offline

1. For offline deactivation: select the Offline Activation checkbox in iProtect.

2. Now you will get a button Deactivate and download Request.

3. Press this button. A warning will be shown that the license will be deactivated immediately.

4. On accepting a file with the request will be downloaded.

5. Go the license portal deactivation page: https://service.tkhsecurity.com/en/licensing/deactivate and upload the file you downloaded in the previous step and press Next.

6. If the license is found, you will get the option to deactivate this license.

7. Now your license is deactivated and the State of the license should change to License not activated

1.6 Adding features / Upgrade License

1.6.1 Online

1. For online upgrade, first fill in a valid e-mail address in the field. (after step 2, a confirmation e-mail with the license details will be delivered to this e-mail address.)

2. Then, simply press the button: Upgrade license and the license is upgraded with the new components.

1.6.2 Offline

There is no direct method to upgrade a license in offline mode. Therefore, to upgrade a license you first have to:

1. Deactivate (1.5.2) the license.

2. Add the new license key with the Upload License Key button or paste the license key and press Add.

3. And then activate (1.4.2) the license.

1.7 Cold- and Warm standby server

The standby server will receive the main server's license with the backup every day. This license will be valid for 30 days.

When the main server is down and the standby server is running as main, the license must be activated within 30 days. (request a reset and activate it (1.4).
